Jeremy Goverman, MD, FACS is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Harvard Medical School and the MGH Trustee’s Fellow in Burns at Massachusetts General Hospital.  Dr. Goverman serves as a full time burn surgeon at MGH and Shriners Hospital for Children, Director of the Acute and Reconstructive Burn Fellowship, and Associate Director of the MGH Wound Center.  After obtaining his Medical Degree, he spent 9 years obtaining specializations that would allow him to provide the highest quality burn and wound care to his patients – from the moment of injury, to discharge from the hospital, and then re-entry into the community.  After a five year residency in General Surgery, he received additional training in burn surgery, surgical critical care, and plastic surgery.  Dr. Goverman is part of the multidisciplinary team of burn care providers at the Sumner Redstone Burn Center, the multidisciplinary team of wound care providers at the MGH Wound Center, as well as the multidisciplinary team of MGH providers dedicated to the care of patients with Cacliphylaxis.

Mihir M. Kamdar, MD is a pain specialist and the Section Head of the Division of Palliative Care and Geriatrics at Mass General. He is dual fellowship trained in both Palliative Care and Interventional Pain Medicine. He holds clinical appointments at the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine as well as the Division of Palliative Care at Mass General. His clinical and research interests center on the design of innovative models of care delivery for pain management and palliative care, and he has a particular interest in helping patients with challenging pain syndromes such as calciphylaxis.  

Daniela Kroshinsky, MD, MPH graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University Honors Program in Medical Education. She received her Medical Degree from Northwestern University School of Medicine, where she was inducted to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, and her Masters of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. She completed her internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital where she received the Preliminary Intern of the Year award and her residency training at SUNY Downstate University where she served as Chief Resident. She is an attending physician at the Massachusetts General Hospital where she serves as the Director of Inpatient Dermatology and the Director of Pediatric Dermatology. She is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in complex medical dermatology in the outpatient and hospital setting. She is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School. Dr.Kroshinsky is a member of multiple national dermatologic societies, including the American Academy of Dermatology, Society of Investigative Dermatology, and American Dermatological Association. She is past-President of the Medical Dermatology Society and President-elect of the Society of Dermatology Hospitalists. Dr.Kroshinsky is very involved in the education of both residents and medical students and has received numerous teaching and mentorship awards. She is an active researcher and has been awarded the several research grants, including the Dermatology Foundation Medical Dermatology Career Development Award, resulting in the authorship of over 130 peer reviewed medical publications and opportunities to speak nationally, and internationally on her findings. She has cared for and consulted on over a hundred patients with calciphylaxis and is dedicated to improving outcomes for patients with this condition.

Rosalynn M. Nazarian, MD is an Associate Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and Associate Pathologist at Massachusetts General Hospital.  As a board-certified academic dermatopathologist, she has carved a unique area of expertise in the pathology of medical dermatology, including calciphylaxis, vasculitis, and wound repair. Dr. Nazarian teaches at Harvard Medical School and Continuing Medical Education courses, and serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology. She lectures at the American Society of Dermatopathology, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, and has contributed over 100 articles to the peer-reviewed literature. Dr. Nazarian is a member of the International Calciphylaxis Advisory Panel and Mass General Hospital’s Interdisciplinary Calciphylaxis team, and has developed a national reputation for her contributions to the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory and fibrosing diseases in the skin.

Sagar Nigwekar, MD, MMSc is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School and an Assistant in Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He also serves as a Co-Director of the Mass General Hospital’s Kidney Research Center and the Medical Director of Chelsea Fresenius Kidney Care facility. Dr. Nigwekar conducts translational and clinical research in the areas of calciphylaxis and vascular calcification.

Dr. Nigwekar has made improving outcomes for patients with calciphylaxis his life’s mission and is guided by the quote by Late Nelson Mandela– It always seems impossible, until it is done.

Dr. Nigwekar is the PI on multiple research studies including VitK-CUA (NCT02278692), the first placebo-controlled randomized trial for calciphylaxis patients. He has authored >100 peer-reviewed research and review articles in many high impact journals including the NEJM. His work on calciphylaxis is widely cited. Dr. Nigwekar has been a prior recipient of Young Investigator Award from the National Kidney Foundation, Clinical Scientist in Nephrology award from the American Kidney Fund, and Carl W. Gottschalk Research Scholar Grant from the American Society of Nephrology. He is a co-chair of the International Consensus Panel on calciphylaxis, a founding member of the International Calciphylaxis Advisory Panel, and a founding member of the Mass General Hospital’s Interdisciplinary Calciphylaxis team.
